Energy and Climate Change

Energy and Climate Change is one of the indicators in the UI GreenMetric assessment. This indicator is related to the university’s efforts in applying sustainable principles in energy production and consumption also efforts to improve energy usage efficiency by the campus. Some of the indicators assessed are the energy efficient appliances usage, the implementation of smart building programs, the number of renewable energy sources in campus, the implementation of green building elements, the greenhouse gas emission reduction program, the ratio between total electricity used by campus population, the ratio of renewable energy production towards energy usage per year, and the ratio of carbon production to the total campus population.
Indicator of Energy and Climate Change has the largest percentage from all indicators, which is 21%. Universitas Gadjah Mada scores 1,075 or 51.19% of the total score on this indicator. This value makes UGM occupying the 16th position Nationally for Energy and Climate Change. The results of the indicators for the energy-efficient appliances usage focus on efforts to apply energy-efficient lamps and air conditioners. The results obtained by UGM are shown in table 1.
