Statement
The “Energy and Climate Change” indicator is part of the UI GreenMetric assessment, focusing on the university’s application of sustainable energy production and consumption principles, as well as efforts to enhance energy efficiency on campus. This indicator evaluates various aspects, including the use of energy-efficient appliances, smart building initiatives, renewable energy sources on campus, green building elements, greenhouse gas emission reduction programs, and ratios of electricity usage, renewable energy production, and carbon output per campus population. This indicator accounts for 21% of the total assessment—the largest proportion among all indicators. Universitas Gadjah Mada scored 1,075, which is 51.19% of the total for this indicator, placing it 16th nationally in Energy and Climate Change. Specific results related to the use of energy-efficient lighting and air conditioning systems at UGM are detailed in the following table.
