The “Setting and Infrastructure” is the initial indicator in the UI GreenMetric assessment, reflecting the university’s dedication to sustainability, especially in managing environmental and open areas. This indicator evaluates aspects such as the ratio of open space to total area and campus population, areas covered by vegetation and forests, water absorption spaces, and the university’s budget for sustainability initiatives. Universitas Gadjah Mada scored 825, which is 55.0%, positioning it 19th nationally for this indicator.
Located in Sleman, Yogyakarta, Universitas Gadjah Mada was established on 19 December 1949 and currently comprises 18 faculties and 2 schools, offering 263 study programs and hosting 21 study centers. It is supported by two living laboratories: the Wanagama Forest in Gunung Kidul Regency, a practical site for Forestry students, and the Center for Agrotechnology Innovation (PIAT), which focuses on research and community services in animal sciences, herbal medicine, renewable energy, waste management, biodiversity, and conservation.
