Integrated Smart and Green Building
Laksana Gema Perdamaian was born in Sleman on May 12, 1990. His research interest in building systems engineering began during his third year in the Department of Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics at Universitas Gadjah Mada. He earned his Bachelor of Engineering degree in May 2012, with his undergraduate research focused on energy simulation for an international airport building. Soon after, he became involved in various building system-related activities, both professional and educational, such as building energy audit verification, teaching assistantships, and supporting final-year undergraduate students with their research. He was also invited to train undergraduate students on building energy simulation software.
In January 2015, he moved to Boulder, Colorado, USA, to pursue a master’s degree in Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder, funded by the Indonesia Education Endowment Fund (LPDP). He specialized in Building System Engineering, taking courses in HVAC System Design, Daylighting, HVAC Control Systems, CFD for the Built Environment, and Sustainable Building Design. He conducted research on building infiltration under the supervision of Professor John Zhiqiang Zhai. He earned his Master of Science degree in 2017.
Upon returning to Indonesia in March 2017, he resumed his academic and professional work in more advanced roles. His recent projects include building energy audits and supervising undergraduate projects. He is currently a research assistant in the Net-Zero Energy Building research at the Center for Development of Sustainable Region (CDSR), a consortium of seven Indonesian universities and a partner institution, the University of Colorado Boulder.
