This project focuses on supporting healthy environmental governance in energy-efficient buildings within tropical climates and is funded by the Ministry of Research and Technology/National Research and Innovation Agency.
During the pandemic, Insgreeb conducted research on indoor Covid-19 transmission, particularly via droplets. Poor air circulation increases transmission risk, necessitating the addition of exhaust fans in each room. However, increasing ventilation rates raises cooling loads and energy consumption. Active engineering, such as adjusting HVAC equipment (air conditioners and fans) and lighting based on occupancy patterns, ensures a healthy indoor environment and minimal energy use. These findings serve as the foundation for developing building management systems.
